AI assistants

Set up Skavelo by asking Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Connect the assistant your team already works in, then ask in your own words: write a walkthrough for sending an invoice, turn our API spec into lookups, add notes for the questions users couldn’t get answered. It acts as the person who connected it, with their role, and it can’t delete anything.

Go through Skavelo’s Needs attention for Acme Books and add a note for anything it couldn’t answer.

skavelo · list_needs_attention { agent: "Acme Books" }

skavelo · create_note “Exporting invoices to CSV”

skavelo · create_note “Changing the invoice currency”

skavelo · mark_attention_handled × 2

Three questions had no answer. I added two notes from your help articles and marked them handled. The third asks about a feature I can’t find in the product map, so I left it open for you.

From connecting to checking its work

  1. Step 1

    Add Skavelo’s address

Paste https://api.skavelo.com/mcp into Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code. Your dashboard’s AI assistants page has the steps for each one.

  2. Step 2

    Approve it in Skavelo

Skavelo opens in your browser. Choose the workspace, and whether the assistant can make changes or only read.

  3. Step 3

    Ask in your own words

The assistant uses what Skavelo learned about your app: its screens, walkthroughs, notes and the questions your users asked.

  4. Step 4

    Check what it did

Everything it creates is labelled with its name, and the AI assistants page lists each change and who it acted for.

What it can do, and what it can’t

Walkthroughs and offers

Write and edit walkthroughs using the product map, and offer them on the pages or after the events you choose.

Skills from your API

Give it an OpenAPI spec. It lists the lookups and actions it could make and creates the ones you pick, switched off until you check them.

Playbooks and notes

Turn your support macros into playbooks, set to testing first, and add notes with the answers users were missing.

Needs attention

Work through answers rated unhelpful, questions Skavelo couldn’t answer and problems users reported, then mark them handled.

Widget settings

Change suggestions, appearance, targeting and handoff, or switch an agent off on your site without deleting it.

Websites and conversations

Add help sites to learn from, start a learning run, and read conversations to see what users ask.

Nothing gets deleted

Assistants can’t delete anything. Skills they create stay switched off until someone switches them on in the dashboard.

Some things stay in the dashboard

Test accounts, the email address handoffs go to, file uploads and the widget icon. An assistant can’t change them.

It works as you

An assistant has the role of the person who connected it. Connect it read only when you want it to look, not change, and disconnect it at any time.

Questions

Set it up with Connect an AI assistant in the help center.

What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other tools. Skavelo’s MCP server is at https://api.skavelo.com/mcp, and assistants sign in to it with OAuth.
Which assistants can connect?
Assistants that support remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. Which ChatGPT plans can add custom connectors is set by OpenAI.
Which plans include it?
Every plan, including Free. What an assistant creates counts toward your plan’s limits, such as switched on skills, playbooks and walkthrough offers.
Does it use up conversations?
No. Conversations are your users’ questions on your site. An assistant setting up Skavelo doesn’t count toward them.
Can it see our users’ data?
It can read conversations, including the names and emails your app passes to Skavelo, the same as you can in the dashboard. Connect it read only if that’s all you need, and disconnect it at any time.
Can we use it from a script?
Yes. A script or CI job can send an API key to the same server instead of signing in.
