Answers that name the real buttons, from your own product

Skavelo answers questions inside your app, from what it learned about your screens and your docs. Answers name the actual buttons and link to where they came from. With lookups, it also answers questions about the user’s own account. When it can’t find the answer, it says so and offers a person.

How an answer comes together

  1. Step 1

    The user asks

In their own words, on the page they’re on, or by clicking one of the suggestions above the widget.

  2. Step 2

    It finds what it learned

The screens, docs, files and notes that fit the question and the page the user is on.

  3. Step 3

    It answers, or shows

A short answer that names the real buttons. For a task, it can show the steps on the page instead.

  4. Step 4

    It cites, or hands off

Sources are linked under the answer. If it couldn’t find the answer, it says so and offers a person.

Answers you can check

Names the real buttons

Answers use the labels on your screens, like Export CSV, so users can find what they read about.

Links to its sources

Each answer links to where it came from, so your team and your users can check it.

Answers about their own account

With lookups, it reads the user’s own data through your API, in their browser with their session, to answer questions like which invoices are overdue. Your first lookup or action is free, Starter has up to 5, Growth unlimited.

Knows the page they’re on

Questions are answered with the user’s current page in mind, so “what does this do?” gets an answer about this screen.

Works out why something broke

When a user says something isn’t working, Skavelo reads the error on their screen and the request that just failed. A refused save becomes “your role doesn’t allow this”, not a generic apology, and the fix comes with it.

Follows your team’s playbooks

Write down how your team troubleshoots a problem: what to check, in order, and what each finding means. Skavelo follows it, tests first in Try it, and drafts new playbooks when several users report the same problem.

Says when it doesn’t know

It doesn’t guess. It tells the user, and its Talk to a person button opens your Intercom, Zendesk or HubSpot chat, or emails your team, with what it already checked.

Gets better when you correct it

Answers users rated down and questions it couldn’t answer wait in Needs attention. Add the right answer once and Skavelo uses it from then on.

Questions

Set it up with Getting the best results in the help center.

Where do Skavelo’s answers come from?
From what it learned about your app’s screens, plus any help docs, files and notes you add. Each answer links to its sources.
Can it answer questions about a user’s own data?
Yes, with lookups. Your first lookup or action is free, Starter has up to 5, and Growth and Enterprise are unlimited. A lookup is a read-only request to your API, sent from the user’s browser with their own session, so Skavelo only sees what the user can. You can add lookups by hand or import them from your OpenAPI file.
What happens to the data a lookup reads?
It’s used to write the answer, then dropped. Only the answer is saved in the conversation, with a note of which lookup ran.
Does it make things up?
It’s told never to claim something your product doesn’t do unless what it learned says so. When it can’t find the answer, it says so and offers a person, and the question appears in your Monday summary so you can answer it once.
What happens when a user says something is broken?
Skavelo looks at the errors on their screen, the app’s requests that failed in the last two minutes (only the method, path and status) and switched off buttons, plus any lookup or playbook you’ve set up. It explains the likely cause and the fix. If it can’t find the cause, it says what it checked and offers a person, and your team gets the same summary.
Can users reach a person?
Yes. When Skavelo can’t help, Talk to a person opens your Intercom, Zendesk or HubSpot chat, or emails your team, with the question the user asked.
