Skavelo vs help-desk AI: Intercom Fin and Zendesk AI agents
Intercom Fin and Zendesk AI agents answer customers in your support channels, from your help center and other knowledge. Skavelo works inside your web app: it learns from the screens themselves, shows the steps on the user’s live page and fills in forms with them. They cover different parts of support, and Skavelo hands a conversation to Intercom or Zendesk when a person is needed.

Words in a chat window, or the steps on the screen
Help-desk AI replies in text. For “how do I add a teammate?”, it can tell the user where to go, and the user then has to find each button themselves.
Skavelo answers too, then points at each button on the live page, one step at a time, across screens. Asked to do something routine, like create an invoice, it opens the form, fills in the details the user gave and stops on the final button for them to check and click.
Where the knowledge comes from
Fin and Zendesk AI agents answer from what’s written down: help articles, internal docs, files and pages you connect. Answers are as current as that content.
Skavelo learns from the app itself. It opens each screen with a test account, notes what each button does, and re-learns weekly or after each deploy. Your help docs, files and notes add to that, and every answer links to its sources.
How the pricing compares
Fin is $0.99 per outcome, and Zendesk charges $1.50 per automated resolution on committed volume. Both charge only when the AI resolves the request. Skavelo charges per conversation, whether or not it resolves it: on Starter, $99 covers 2,500 conversations, about 4 cents each.
The units differ, so compare on your own volumes. Help-desk AI also covers email and phone, which Skavelo doesn’t.
What help-desk AI does that Skavelo doesn’t
Fin and Zendesk AI agents sit inside a full help desk: email, phone and chat channels, an inbox for your agents, routing and reporting. They handle questions about orders, billing and policies wherever customers write in. Skavelo only works inside your web app, and it isn’t a help desk; when a person is needed, it passes the conversation to yours.
Which one fits
Choose help-desk AI if
- Most questions arrive by email, phone or chat outside your app.
- You need an agent inbox, routing and service levels in the same product.
- Questions are mostly about orders, billing or policies rather than how to use your screens.
- You want to pay only for conversations the AI resolves.
Choose Skavelo if
- Many of your tickets are “how do I” questions about your web app.
- You want users to finish the task on the screen, not read about it.
- Your help docs lag behind the product.
- You want to try it on your own product, free, before adding any code.
Using both
They fit together. Skavelo handles the “how do I” questions inside your app, and when someone needs a person, its Talk to a person button opens your Intercom, Zendesk or HubSpot chat, or emails your team, with the question they asked. Your help-desk AI and agents take it from there.
Questions
- Is Skavelo a chatbot?
- It answers questions in a chat, but it also works on the page itself: it points at each button the user needs, across screens, and can fill in forms with them. It learns from your app’s screens, not only your help articles.
- Does Skavelo work with Intercom or Zendesk?
- Yes. When a user needs a person, Skavelo hands the conversation to your Intercom, Zendesk or HubSpot chat, or to your team by email.
- Does Skavelo answer emails or phone calls?
- No. Skavelo works inside your web app only. Help-desk AI covers email, phone and other channels.
- Why does Skavelo charge per conversation instead of per resolution?
- Skavelo’s help happens on the screen, so a finished task is often the only sign it worked, and no one confirms it as resolved. A flat price per conversation keeps the bill predictable: Starter is $99 a month for 2,500 conversations.
- What does Skavelo learn from?
- Your web app’s screens, which it explores with a test account, plus any help docs, files and notes you add. It re-learns weekly or after each deploy.
